New York State Dream Act

The New York State Dream Act is a state level protection for immigrants which allows students in New York to obtain funding for higher education.  While all NY student graduating high school were already able to attend college at the at the in-state tuition rate, they were unable to obtain financial aid.  The NYS Dream Act now allows youths graduating from NY high schools to obtain financial aid benefits, as per the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP).  To see if you or your child qualify and for applications click here.

Green Light Bill
On June 17, 2019 the Senate passed the New York Drivers License and Privacy Act, allowing the restriction due to immigration status for people to obtain NY Driver’s Licenses.  The Act allows people without status the to submit other proof of identity to obtain non-commercial and non-federal driver’s licenses, which allows people to go to work and take their children to schools and appointments without the risk of driving without status and driving without a valid license.

We appreciate the efforts being made on the state level to protect immigrant rights and increase equity for all of its residents.

New York State Dream Act
